Sheep go to heaven, ______ go to hell

Kozyol - lit. "he-goat". An irredeemable idiot. A thickheaded moron. Someone with the intelligence of an untrainable herbivore.

Because this one's not very absurd, I'll throw in another lovely Russian insult.

Sterva - lit. "she-vulture"/"carrion bird". A woman of a predatory and bitchy disposition. One who feeds off suffering caused by her drama. Nearest English equivalent is when you call someone a fucking banshee.

  1. Actually, that's not quite what kozyol means. Idiocy is not enough. There's a strong meaning of active maliciousness and, of course, the secondary but always-in-the-back-of-mind meaning of "someone who has been raped in prison", which is a status thing in Russia, and not in a good way.

  2. You know, Marish, I had no idea about that secondary meaning. I thought that prison rape was a pretty taboo subject in Russia.
